Got Courage? Everyday Moments That Move Us Forward

When most people hear the word courage, they think of the big leaps: leaving a job, starting a business, or taking a bold stand.  It can be those things, but courage is often quieter.

It shows up in the everyday moments that either move us toward alignment or slowly pull us away.

This past August, when my youngest returned to college, we thought his laptop was broken. The screen wasn’t working, and we assumed it was done for. When I finally took it in for repair, the truth surprised me: the laptop wasn’t broken at all — the power source we’d been using just wasn’t strong enough.

We almost discarded something valuable because we misdiagnosed the problem.

How often do we do that in our own lives?

  • Assume we’re “stuck” when we’re really misaligned.

  • Power down dreams that only need a stronger source.

  • Walk away from possibilities when a simple shift could move us forward.

This is where courage matters. Not in the grand gestures, but in the micro-moments:

  • The courage to check-in with yourself and reignite your dreams.

  • The courage to pause before reacting.

  • The courage to speak your truth in a meeting.

  • The courage to say yes to yourself instead of “should” to everyone else.

Courage in the moment is what shapes who we become in the long run.

As we enter reflection season, I invite you to pause and consider:

What moments of courage are calling to you right now?

And how will you or how are you responding?

Because another year will pass either way — the question is, will you step into it with courage?
