INSIDE ALIVEN
Join Chasity Crawley, where the worlds of leadership and practice come together.
Long before I became an executive coach and senior leader, I learned the power of practice on the basketball court—as a Division I athlete, Elite Eight competitor, and Hall of Fame inductee.
Since then, I've spent my career leading, advising, coaching, and working alongside senior leaders through moments that ask the most of us.
And across both arenas, I've seen the same thing:
Knowing what to do and being able to access it when the moment arrives are two very different things.
Aliven brings those worlds together: giving experienced leaders a place to slow the game down, see more clearly, and practice their way into what's next.
PERSPECTIVE
See what is difficult to see when you’re standing inside your own leadership. Get outside perspective, shared language, and reflection that helps uncover what’s actually driving the moment.
PRACTICE
Work on the real situations you’re facing. Not hypothetical case studies. Replay, rehearse, experiment, receive feedback, and try again.
CAPACITY
Expand what you’re able to access when pressure is real: more presence, more choice, greater ability to hold complexity, and a more mature expression of leadership.
Leadership has become a role with more pressure, more complexity, and more competing expectations and the cost is showing up in the leaders themselves.
71% of leaders say their stress has increased since stepping into their current role.
Only 30% say they have enough time to do their job well. And 40% of leaders experiencing increased stress have considered leaving leadership to protect their wellbeing.
The problem is bigger than learning how to “handle more.”
Leaders are at high-risk. Because at some point, the weight of leadership can start to feel normal.
The constant decisions.
The competing expectations.
Being the one people turn to when something goes wrong.
The meeting ends, but your mind keeps going.
You're physically somewhere else while part of you is still solving what happened at work.
You carry it because you can.
And somewhere along the way, this is simply what leadership started to feel like.
But normal doesn't mean without cost.
And there is another risk that comes with carrying it well for a long time.
You can become so identified with being the capable one, the dependable one, the one who knows, fixes, protects and delivers that it stops feeling like a way you lead.
It starts feeling like who you have to be.
And without realizing it, the role can begin defining you instead of you defining how you want to lead it.
And even when you try to change…
You Carry The Weight.
Something needs to be handled, big or small, and you step in. You answer.
You fix. You protect. You make sure it gets done.
The buck stops with you.
You Feel The Cost.
Your mind doesn't shut off. There's less space to think.
Less energy for what matters outside of work.
Less of you left over.
You know you don't want to keep leading this way.
So You Try Something Different.
You've learned the strategies...
Delegate more. Say no.
Create boundaries. Stop jumping in.
Let other people own the work.
And you try.
Then It Gets Uncomfortable.
They still need you.
The work isn't quite right.
It takes longer.
Someone may be disappointed.
And all the familiar pulls return:
Be helpful. Be responsive. Get it right. Prove you can handle it. Don't let anyone down.
So You Step Back In.
You answer. You fix.
You rescue. You carry.
And the cycle begins again.
Maybe the problem isn't that you don't know what to do differently.
Maybe the harder part is staying with a different choice long enough for something else to become available.
Of course you want a better way to lead.
One where you can be deeply effective without being responsible for everything. Where you can trust yourself to meet the moment in front of you—with the presence to stay in it, the discernment to know what's yours to carry, and the capacity to let go of what isn't.
And still have more of yourself available for the life you've already worked so hard to build.
But leading differently is hard…
When you know something needs to change, but you can't yet see what doing it differently could actually look like.
When you know what you want to do differently but weren't prepared for how uncomfortable different can feel, especially when other people respond to you differently, too.
When the ways you're trying to evolve are some of the very things that made you successful and may still be rewarded by the environment around you.
When choosing differently means risking being seen differently by the people whose trust, respect and approval have mattered throughout your career.
And when you've been given plenty of advice about how to lead differently, but very little space to actually practice what different looks and feels like before the moment counts.
Changing how you lead is more complex than knowing what good leadership looks like.
I’ve been there too…
There was a point in my own leadership career when I realized there simply wasn’t enough of me to keep doing everything I believed needed to be done.
The work was coming from every direction. I was working long days, carrying major priorities, and leading a team of capable people I had hired to do exactly the work I was still trying to carry myself.
I knew I needed to lead differently.
What I wasn't prepared for was how uncomfortable different would feel.
I had built a career in a culture where doing was visible—and doing was rewarded.
Now I was being asked to create space for other people to own the work, receive the credit, and sometimes sit in rooms and answer questions I once would have answered myself.
And underneath all of that was a question I didn't necessarily say out loud:
Will they still see my value if I'm no longer the one doing it all?
So I had to practice.
Trusting without becoming disconnected. Giving ownership without abandoning accountability. Letting someone else shine without needing to prove my contribution. Staying with the discomfort when something wasn't done exactly as I would have done it.
And something beautiful happened.
My people grew.
They brought ideas I never would have considered. They became stronger, more confident and more capable. And I had more space to do the work that was actually mine to do as their leader.
I didn't become less valuable when I stopped doing everything. I had to learn a different way to create value.
That experience reinforced something I've seen again and again:
Knowing how you want to lead and becoming someone who can actually lead that way are two different things.
And becoming that leader takes practice.
WHAT BECOMES POSSIBLE
A more alive way of leading has a few recognizable qualities.
It isn't about becoming a completely different leader. It's about expanding the range of who you can be and how you can respond.

Trust yourself to meet the moment.
Without need to control everything that might happen next.
Stay present when things get uncomfortable.
Instead of automatically fixing, avoiding, proving, protecting, or stepping in.
Know what’s yours to carry.
And let go of what isn’t without questioning your value or commitment as a leader.
Create room for other people to think, own, and grow.
Without their success diminishing your own.
See more than one response available to you.
And have greater freedom to choose the one that serves the moment.
Define valuable leadership for yourself.
Rather than allowing the role, the culture, or people’s expectations to define it for you.
A more alive way of leading doesn't remove the pressure. It changes what becomes available to you inside of it.
The way you learned to lead is not the only way available to you.
INTRODUCING
Aliven Membership
A community for experienced leaders who believe there's a better way to lead and are willing to practice their way into it.
For the first time, I’m bringing together what I’ve learned, practiced, and seen work through years of leading, coaching, and doing this work myself into one ongoing community built specifically for experienced leaders.
A place to bring the leadership you're actually living.
To see what may be difficult to see alone.
To experiment with another response.
To build greater capacity for the moments that ask something different of you.
Not another leadership program to complete. An ongoing place to practice, evolve and mature.
When you join Aliven, you’ll…
-
Access a growing library of frameworks, distinctions and practices designed to help you recognize what's shaping how you lead.
Give shape to what you've sensed but haven't always known how to name—and uncover what you didn't yet know to look for.
-
Twice each month, bring real conversations, decisions, relationships and situations into live, facilitated sessions where you can slow the moment down, get perspective, experiment with another response and try again.
So, the next high-stakes moment isn't the first time you've attempted to lead differently.
-
Learn from your own leadership moments—and from the real situations, questions, experiments and perspectives of other experienced leaders.
Sometimes the moment that changes how you see your own leadership won't even be yours.
And you'll have somewhere you don't have to arrive already knowing the answer.
When you step inside Aliven, here’s how the work happens.
SEEBuild Awareness
Short frameworks, distinctions and shared language to help you see what may be shaping how you lead including what you haven't known to look for yet.
WATCH GAME FILMSlow Down What Already Happened
Bring a recent leadership moment into the room and slow the game down. What happened? What did you believe was happening? What became automatic?
The goal isn't to judge the response. It's to expand what you can see the next time.
SCRIMMAGEPractice What’s Ahead
Bring an upcoming conversation, decision, boundary or leadership moment into the room before the stakes are real.
Try the response. Sit with what feels uncomfortable. Get perspective. Adjust. Try again.
Give “different” somewhere to become more familiar before the moment counts.
EXPERIMENT
Take the Practice into Real Life
Put what you're seeing and practicing to work in the meetings, conversations and moments you're already living.
Try something. Notice what happens around you and in you. Bring what you learn back into the work.
Because change isn't built in one big leap. It's built through reps.
INTEGRATE
Let the Learning Become Yours
Use reflection, community conversation, and intentional integration rhythms to make meaning from what you're learning instead of rushing from insight to insight.
Notice what's changing. What still pulls at you. What's becoming easier. And what you want to keep practicing.
The goal isn't to collect insights. It's to let what you're learning change what's available to you through practice.
Every moment is an opportunity to choose differently.
But when you're carrying the weight of leadership, moving quickly, and responding in the ways that have worked for you for years, a different choice can feel miles away.
If you're struggling to stay present when the pressure rises, to let someone else own what you'd normally take back, to respond differently when the familiar pull kicks in, or to trust yourself when the choice you're making feels unfamiliar... be encouraged.
MORE IS AVAILABLE TO YOU.
You don't need another leadership framework to tell you what you should do.
You need somewhere to build the awareness, practice, and capacity to access something different when the moment arrives.
That's exactly what Aliven gives you.

WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME
I believe deeply in the responsibility of leadership. But I also believe the leader is a person worth caring for, too.
Leadership doesn't only affect what happens at work.
How we carry pressure, responsibility, expectations, and uncertainty follows us into our health, our relationships, our families, and the lives we return to when the workday ends.
And how we lead travels in the other direction, too.
It shapes the people entrusted to us. The environments they work within. What they learn to believe leadership requires of them. And what they carry home into their own lives.
That's why I don't believe the answer is asking capable leaders to simply become better at carrying more.
I care about the leader as a person.
And I care about the people who experience that leader.
Because the impact of leadership rarely stops at work.
Aliven was created with you in mind if…
You've become someone people count on and you're questioning how much of you that should continue to require.
You know something about the way you're leading needs to change, even if you can't quite see what different looks like yet.
You're willing to be seen differently if that's what becoming the leader you want to be requires.
You've accomplished enough to know that another title, achievement or accolade isn't going to answer every question you're asking now.
You know the leadership advice: delegate, set the boundary, let them own it, have the conversation, stop jumping in, but knowing what to do hasn't always made doing it any easier.
You want your people to think, own and grow, and you're learning how to create that space without automatically stepping back in.
You still care deeply about being excellent, and you want more of yourself available for the life that exists beyond your leadership role.
Most of all, you believe there's a better way to lead, and you're willing to do more than think about it.
Experienced leaders don’t need more information alone. They need somewhere to practice.
Somewhere to see what they can't always see alone.
Somewhere to experiment before the moment counts.
Somewhere to stay with different long enough for something new to become available.
That's why Aliven exists.
If you're ready to lead differently—not just know differently—this community was built for you.
Why Aliven exists?
Your success should not require you to disappear inside of it.
For so long, many of us have measured success by what we can accomplish, carry, produce, and become responsible for.
What if the next measure of your success isn't how much more you can carry, but how much more of yourself remains available while you lead?
Aliven is interested not only in what you accomplish, but in who you're becoming while you accomplish it.
Because I believe leadership matters.
We need people willing to lead.
People willing to make hard decisions, take responsibility, create possibility, and use their influence in service of something beyond themselves.
And as our influence grows, our willingness to keep evolving must grow with it.
Because other people are watching.
They're learning what leadership looks like from us. What success requires. How power gets used. How people are treated. What gets sacrificed and what doesn't have to be.
The way we lead becomes part of what the next generation learns leadership can be.
That's why I believe our leadership can continue to mature without our lives becoming smaller around it.
We can be ambitious and alive.
Responsible and free.
Deeply committed without being consumed.
Aliven exists to help raise the standard for what successful leadership can look and feel like for us, for the people we lead, and for those who will lead after us.

Your Questions, Answered
-
Membership includes access to our full library of digital content: videos, resources, and any new material we release while you're subscribed.
-
Aliven includes two 90-minute live Practice Sessions during each active month, plus whatever time you choose to spend with the resources, experiments and recordings.
But Aliven isn't meant to become another thing on your already-full to-do list. Your life is the practice field. The meetings, conversations, decisions and moments you're already navigating are where the real practice happens.
You'll get out of Aliven what you're willing to put into it, but meaningful participation doesn't require doing everything. It requires being willing to notice, practice and return.
-
Memberships are flexible and can be canceled at any time from your account. You’ll retain access through the end of your current billing cycle.
-
No. Aliven is not about forced vulnerability.
You decide what you bring into the room and how much you share. When we explore real situations, we protect the people while learning from the patterns there is no need to use real names, company names or unnecessary identifying details.
At the same time, Aliven is a practice community. The more willing we are to bring real questions and experiences into the room, the more opportunity we create to learn from our own practice and from one another.
-
Yes. Practice Sessions are recorded and made available privately to Aliven members because learning from one another is part of the experience.
If you volunteer a situation for Game Film, Scrimmage or another live practice, you'll know in advance that the session is being recorded.
Members are expected to respect the privacy and confidentiality of what is shared. Recordings are for member use only and should not be shared outside the community.
-
You can. Aliven isn't designed to replace any of them.
A book can introduce a powerful idea. A course can teach a framework. Individual coaching can provide deeply personalized support.
Aliven provides something that can still be missing: a place to keep practicing.
It's a place to close the distance between what you know and what you can actually access when the moment arrives to experiment, get another rep, learn from other leaders and keep returning to the work.
Growth may be personal. It doesn't have to be solitary.
-
Come live whenever you can. That's where you'll have the greatest opportunity to participate, ask questions and practice alongside other members.
When life or leadership gets in the way, recordings are available so you can return to the conversation on your own time.
There is no perfect attendance requirement. Aliven is here to support your practice not become another obligation you're failing to keep up with.
-
That's okay.
The purpose of Aliven isn't to convince everyone to stay. It's to create a practice environment for leaders who want to engage in this kind of work.
Your first 30 days are covered by the money-back guarantee. After that, monthly members can cancel future billing at any time, and annual members can cancel renewal for the following year.
We also protect the integrity of the community. Aliven is built around respect, curiosity, confidentiality and personal responsibility. Behavior that compromises that environment may result in removal from the community in accordance with the membership terms.
